Settings

Access settings from the menu in the top-left corner. Settings are organized into tabs:

Preferences

Customize how Lithium looks and behaves to match your workflow.

Views & Navigation

Default Homepage

Choose which page to land on when you sign in:

  • Today - Your daily agenda and tasks (default)
  • Inbox - Your capture inbox for quick notes
  • Browse - Full page browser
  • Calendar - Calendar view with events and scheduled items

Default Page View

Choose the default view mode for newly created pages:

  • Outline - Hierarchical block structure (default)
  • Note - Distraction-free writing mode
  • Todos - Task-focused list view

Appearance

Theme

  • Midnight - Blue-tinted dark theme
  • Charcoal - True black OLED theme (default)
  • Forest - Deep green dark theme
  • Light - Clean white theme

Sidebar

Toggle visibility of sidebar sections:

  • Inbox (visible by default)
  • Today (visible by default)
  • Calendar (visible by default)
  • Browse (visible by default)
  • Voice Notes (visible by default for Pro users)

Show Indent Lines

Display vertical guides showing block hierarchy. Enabled by default.

Disable Animations

Turn off block folding and completion animations for instant transitions. Disabled by default (animations enabled).

Todos

Nested Todo Completion

Configure how completing todos affects related items:

  • Complete subtasks with parent - Completing a parent also completes all its subtasks (disabled by default)
  • Auto-complete parent - Parent auto-completes when all subtasks are done (disabled by default)

Completed Todo Behavior

Choose how completed todos appear in the list:

  • Keep in place - Completed todos stay where they are
  • Move to end - Move completed todos to the bottom of their parent (default)
  • Hide when complete - Collapse completed todos under expandable sections

Sort Todos by Priority

High priority todos appear first within each group. Enabled by default.

Editor

Confirm Before Deleting

Show a confirmation dialog when deleting blocks. Enabled by default.

Cmd+Backspace Deletes Block

Press Cmd+Backspace (or Ctrl+Backspace on Windows) to delete the focused block. Enabled by default.

Show Keyboard Shortcuts

Display keyboard shortcut hints in the UI. Enabled by default.

Formatting Style

Choose bold/italic markers:

  • Markdown - **bold** and *italic* (default)
  • mrkdwn - *bold* and _italic_ (Slack-style)

Date & Time

Daily Pages Date Format

Configure how daily page titles are displayed. Available formats:

  • Wednesday, January 15, 2026 - Verbose format (default)
  • Wed, Jan 15 - Compact format
  • Jan 15, 2026 - US format
  • 15 Jan 2026 - UK format
  • 2026-01-15 - ISO format

Calendar Week Start

Choose which day starts the week in calendar views:

  • Monday (default)
  • Sunday

Integrations

Connect external calendar services to sync events into Lithium. All integration data is end-to-end encrypted before being stored.

Google Calendar

Connect your Google account to sync events from your Google calendars. After connecting, select which calendars to sync.

Apple Calendar

Connect your iCloud account to sync events from your Apple calendars. Requires an app-specific password generated from appleid.apple.com. After connecting, select which calendars to sync.

Security

Manage encryption, passwords, and device access.

Auto-Lock

Automatically lock the app after a period of inactivity to protect your data:

  • 5 minutes
  • 15 minutes (default)
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • Never

When locked, you’ll need to re-enter your password to access your data. Encryption keys are cleared from memory when locked.

Change Password

Update your master encryption password. This password encrypts your data and cannot be recovered by Lithium if forgotten.

Recovery Password

View or regenerate your recovery password. This is a backup method to regain access to your account if you forget your master password. Store it somewhere safe.

Active Devices

See all logged-in sessions and sign out remotely. Shows device name, last activity, and allows you to revoke access from specific devices.

Data Sync

Manage data synchronization and exports.

Active Devices

View all connected devices and their last sync time. Sign out devices remotely if needed.

Export / Import

  • Export Data - Download all your content as decrypted JSON for backup or migration
  • Import Data - Restore from a previous export file

Account

Manage your profile, usage, and account settings.

Profile

  • Display Name - Optional name shown instead of your email where applicable
  • Email - Your account email (display only, cannot be changed)
  • User ID - Your unique account identifier
  • Account Tier - Free, Pro, or Beta (Beta includes Pro features)

Usage (Free tier only)

Track your page count against the free tier limit. Pro users have unlimited pages.

Credits & Referrals

Earn credits by referring others to Lithium. Credits can be applied toward Pro subscriptions.

Telemetry

Opt in to send anonymous usage data to improve Lithium. Shares feature usage and time spent in views. No personal content is ever collected. See the data transparency page for details.

Delete Account

Permanently delete your account and all associated data. This action cannot be undone. All pages, blocks, settings, voice notes, and images will be permanently removed.
