Security & Privacy

Section titled “Is my data really encrypted?”Yes. Everything is encrypted on your device before it syncs. Your password never leaves your device, and we use industry-standard algorithms (XChaCha20-Poly1305, Argon2id) via the audited libsodium library. Learn more
Can Lithium staff read my notes?
Section titled “Can Lithium staff read my notes?”No. We only see encrypted blobs on the server. Without your password, we can’t decrypt anything. This is architecturally impossible by design.
What happens if I forget my password?
Section titled “What happens if I forget my password?”Your data is gone. There’s no “forgot password” link - we can’t reset it because we never had access to your encryption keys. Set up a recovery password as backup. Why no password recovery
What data do you collect?

Section titled “What’s the inbox for?”The inbox is a dedicated space for quick capture. Jot thoughts down without worrying about where they belong. It’s always in your sidebar, ready for whatever’s on your mind. Inbox guide
Can I use it offline?
Section titled “Can I use it offline?”Mostly, yes. Once you’ve signed in, your data is cached locally in IndexedDB and you can read and edit without internet. Changes sync automatically when you reconnect. There are caveats though — see Offline use for details.
Is there a mobile app?
Section titled “Is there a mobile app?”There’s a PWA (progressive web app) you can install on iOS or Android. A native iOS app is in development. PWA installation
Can I import from other apps?
Section titled “Can I import from other apps?”Yes. You can export all your data as JSON and import from Lithium backups, Roam, Obsidian, or Logseq. Audio files and images aren’t included in exports yet — that’s a known gap we’re working on. Import & export
Does it work with my calendar?
Section titled “Does it work with my calendar?”Yes. You can connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar to view external events alongside your Lithium events. Calendar guide

Section titled “Is it free?”Yes, the free tier gives you 50 pages. There’s a Pro tier with higher limits (10,000 pages, voice notes, file attachments), but pricing isn’t finalized yet. All beta users get Pro features for free.
What are the limits on the free tier?
Section titled “What are the limits on the free tier?”50 pages, 200 blocks per page, unlimited devices, no voice notes, no file attachments. When you hit limits, you can still read everything - you just can’t create new content.
How do I give feedback or report bugs?

How do I get support?
Section titled “How do I get support?”Email support@lithium.ac and we’ll get back to you. You can also use “Report a Bug” or “Share Thoughts” in Settings to reach us directly from the app.
What if something’s wrong with my data?
Section titled “What if something’s wrong with my data?”Go to Settings > Account > Data & Recovery and tap “Troubleshoot & Recover”. The wizard walks you through sync checks, deeper data integrity scans, and a cache reset if needed. If none of that helps, email support@lithium.ac and we’ll investigate.
