Reverse Mode

Reverse mode flips the direction of block creation. Instead of pressing Enter to create a block below, it creates one above. Newest entries always appear at the top.

When to use it

Reverse mode is designed for continuous capture lists — ideas, notes, logs — where:

  • Fast writes: No scrolling to the bottom to add a new entry. Just type at the top.
  • Recency bias: The most recent entries are what you usually care about, so they sit at the top.

Think of it like a journal or activity feed — newest first.

Enabling reverse mode

Open the page menu (three-dot icon in the header) and tap Reverse Mode. A toast confirms the change.

The setting is per-page and persists across devices. Other pages are unaffected.

How it works

  • Enter at end of line: Creates a new block above (instead of below)
  • Enter at start of line: Creates a new block below (the opposite of normal)
  • Splitting in the middle: Works the same as normal mode — text after the cursor goes to the new block below
  • Add button: When reverse mode is on, the toolbar moves to the top and the Add button creates blocks at the top of the page

Moving blocks to a reverse-mode page

When you move a block to a page that has reverse mode enabled (via “Move to…” or “Send to Inbox”), the block is inserted at the top of the target page rather than the bottom.
